Drought Conditions Lead Forestry Officials to Extend Burn Ban

The burn ban, which typically runs from May1 through the end of September, has been extended in Clayton, Fayette, Forsyth, Gwinnett and Hall counties. ALL outdoor burning, including leaves, trash, yard debris and storm damage is prohibited under the ban. In Gilmer County

no permits are being issued at this time. Drought conditions are severe and conditions are very volatile right now, with no immediate relief in sight. A fire can spread very quickly in dry, low humidity situations. Know the evacuation routes from your area and take precautions to remove all flammable material from around your home. Any reports of burning will be investigated, and necessary action will be taken.
